As mining pushes new frontiers, the WA Mining Conference and Exhibition brings together the technologies, partnerships and ideas shaping the sector’s next wave of growth.

Western Australia’s mining sector is entering a defining phase of growth and transition, with the WA Mining Conference and Exhibition (WA Mining) set to bring industry leaders together in Perth this September.

While iron ore still underpins the state’s economic strength, new opportunities are emerging, from lithium’s market reset and the push for downstream processing to the growing urgency of decarbonisation and infrastructure delivery.

WA Mining returns to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 16–17 as a key forum to discuss sector innovation and knowledge that is helping shape the state as a global supplier.

WA Mining comes at a pivotal time, with an increasing drive to decarbonise operations while maintaining productivity, a challenge that is pushing investment in electrification, automation and energy infrastructure.

The event brings together international industry leaders, technology pioneers and prominent on-site operators for two days of business-critical conversations.

Speaking on the conference stage, some of the sector’s most influential voices will unpack the forces shaping Western Australia’s future.

Minerals Council of Australia chief executive officer (CEO) Tania Constable, Hancock Iron Ore chief technology and information officer Kate Flanagan, Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia research portfolio manager Geoff Batt, and CSIRO Sustainable Mining Technologies Program senior spatial scientist Romana Dew are among those set to contribute to the program.

Their discussions will span the themes now defining much of the industry: project delivery, sustainability, workforce resilience and the rapid advancement of autonomous operations, immediate priorities for operators seeking to remain competitive in a tightening global market.

Major industry players and global suppliers have already secured their place on the exhibition floor, including Rema Tip Top, PowerLink Energy, Blackwoods, Treadwell Group, Harcher, and Sustainable Technology Equipment Group (STEG).

The exhibition will once again prioritise interactive, hands-on experiences, allowing attendees to engage directly with the technologies reshaping site operations. From live equipment demonstrations to dedicated innovation zones, the event is designed to move beyond theory and showcase practical solutions that can be deployed across Western Australia’s vast mining footprint.

A key feature of WA Mining 2026 will be the Mining Pavilion, bringing together leading companies, such as Fortescue and Glencore, and major projects in one place. The space provides a focused platform for exploring investment opportunities, strengthening supply chains and gaining insight into the developments driving the state’s resources sector forward.

With previous years selling out, WA Mining continues to demonstrate its relevance in a dynamic and evolving industry environment.

Prime Creative Media show director – mining events Rebecca Todesco said WA Mining is where the state’s industry comes together to create real opportunities.

“We are thrilled to invite the key players of Western Australia’s resources sector back to Perth,” Todesco said. “The city will once again become a buzzing hub of progression as the state’s industry unites for two days of networking, knowledge-sharing and celebrating the excellence across the sector.

“We are already seeing a strong response from exhibitors and attendees alike, and we are looking forward to another fantastic event.”

The event attracts a diverse professional audience, from mine managers and site engineers to procurement specialists and business leaders. For suppliers, it offers direct access to decision-makers actively seeking solutions to improve efficiency, reduce emissions and optimise operations.

Dedicated networking events spread across the event’s two days are designed to foster meaningful connections tailored to WA, helping local businesses build partnerships in the areas in which they operate, extending beyond the exhibition floor and into long-term collaboration.

As the state balances growth with transformation, WA Mining provides a platform not only to showcase innovation but to align the sector on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
