The Speech:
As a woman engineer who worked for Western Mining, BHP Engineering, BHP Nickel West, Fluor, Bechtel and Westinghouse, I’ve seen lots of projects. I’ve been working with predominantly men.
I can tell you what happened with Roy Hill / Hancock, was possible because it was run by a woman.
As Tad said to me once, Gina said “It’s possible.”
It is possible. Even if you think it’s not possible. It’s possible.
That’s the woman heart.
That’s the woman belief.
Honestly, that’s what I told my daughters.
Don’t trust anybody who tells you it cannot be done.
It can be done if it’s in your heart, if it’s in your head, if you want it to be done.
Mrs Gina Rinehart, that’s what she has done. All hats off to you.
I am so proud of you as a woman. You know, saying so many things.
I’ve seen so many projects, so many projects.
I want to talk about what BHP was saying.
“Oh OK, Hancock want to do this and this, whatever. Yeah sure…”
It’s been done.
