WA Premier Roger Cook has labelled an ABC segment that depicted graphic violence against Gina Rinehart as “unacceptable” but he stopped short of backing calls for the taxpayer-funded broadcaster to apologise to the mining billionaire.
The ABC has defied calls to apologise to Gina Rinehart for a “satirical” video that aired on the national broadcaster which depicted an imaginary, savage assault on the mining tycoon.
Commonwealth Games Australia says the restriction preventing Australian swimmers from publicly thanking Gina Rinehart is not political. It says it is commercial and designed to protect the companies that have paid to become official Australian team sponsors.
